They have once again stolen my heart in that way that boys do…

Nick’s gone back to Michigan. Far too brief visit, but how blessed we were to see him. He and Kate stayed up most of last night talking, reminiscing, laughing a whole bunch. It was so good to see that they grew up to be friends.

Seven AM rolled around waaay too early for those of us who didn’t get to bed before 2:30am (yep…me too.) I had already woken up with a start around 4:45am panicking that Nick’s clothes were still in the washer and he needed the jeans for the trip home, so I crawled out to the laundry room and put things in the dryer before crawling back to bed.

Around 6:20am Mike stuck his head into my room to tell me that they were getting ready to go and would I like a cup of coffee too? Yikes! Danny was supposed to stay with me (a 7 hour round trip by car to the DFW airport that he’d already made with them once just four days earlier.) Crawled out once again, put together a small cuppa, hoping that I might be able to get a bit more rest. While I was folding the clothes in a comatose state, the bright young lad woke up, realized that not only was Unka Wacky (his name for Uncle Nicky) leaving, but both his parents were as well.

Commence hysterical sobbing. Good thing I wasn’t actually awake or it might have bothered me, right?

Things turned out okay. Danny calmed down, Nick flew home, Kate and Mike drove home, somehow I managed to convince Danny to take a nap and I got some knitting done.

I miss my Nicky already. Thanks for coming for Christmas, baby.

These are a few of my favorite things ;-)
